college tips from my first experience

1- If you have to bring lunchables to school, do it. Please, do not spend 3 dollars on the pizza at the caf. It will add up eventually and you will realize how much money you wasted on food alone.

2. Show up for class, even if you don’t feel like it. If you skip one class because ‘I really don’t wanna get up from bed today’, then you’ll get more loose and make it a habit. skip a class when you absolutely cannot go. and ‘i didn’t do my paper’ is not an excuse.

3. If your professor has a website for your class, check it often. Sometimes, you’ll get more information online than in class.

4. don’t write down whatever the professor puts on the board word for word. summerize, put it in your words, draw pictures, whatever. Also, don’t just pull out the notebook when the professor writes on the board. Listen, write, repeat.

5. turn the phone off. You will miss SOMETHING if you take a minute to text on your phone.

6. Don’t wait until the last minute to do your papers.

7. If you take one of those once a week classes, make sure it’s something you will enjoy.

8. Join clubs and don’t be afraid of talking to people that might be older than you.

9. Don’t stare at disabled students in the hallway or in the classroom.

10. If you come in late, wait until class is over before handing in a paper.

11. Bring small snacks if your class crosses lunchtime or dinner.

12. Don’t take morning classes unless you’re a morning person.

13. Get a coke or sprite from the dollar store.

14. GO TO THE RESTROOM BEFORE CLASS.

15. Do your assignments.

16. don’t be afraid to ask the professor anything you don’t understand.

17. make sure you have all of your supplies and books.

18. 4 classes is recommended for those who don’t plan on working at the time

19. people CAN hear you talking loud with your friends in the hallways.Try to be considerate and lower your voice.

20. again with the people, please do not be afraid to talk to ANYONE. If there’s a 60 year old woman who seems to be having trouble with algebra, go help! If you want to ask an 18 year old if there’s an exam question, go ahead. Age isn’t an issue here.
