You know, I talk about how much I love Mettaton a lot on here, but I’m gonna go ahead and explain exactly why.
A lot of people seen to write him off as someone who only cares about himself, and you know, god dammit he deserves it.
He’s had huge dreams, but as a ghost, he couldn’t live them out the way he wanted to.
Now he has everything he’s ever wanted, and then some. He’s so proud of himself and has every right to be.
In his EX form especially, he talked about himself a lot. But he spent most of his life as a ghost, then basically a box on wheels, and then finally got the body he’s always wanted. Of course he would be happy about the way he looks.
He went out of his way to make Alphys look better, even if it meant making himself look worse.
He willingly fought a child, but his main goal was to get their SOUL and live out his dream on the surface.
This guy tried to stop an entire fucking war just to fulfill his dreams.
He also cares about Napstablook so fucking much. When they called in during the viewer milestone, he was obviously feeling terrible about what he had done to them.
He almost called them by their name, but stopped himself to keep it anonymous.
Yeah, he did leave his cousin, but that never stopped them from caring about each other.
TL;DR: Mettaton can be an asshole sometimes, but he’s still a sweetheart and a surprisingly fleshed-out character.
