awyeahosomatsu:

Minor character girls seen in the series, ones representing higher status and outside world. Since Todomatsu’s the one being the attempted social climber, they wind up being seen around him in scenes.

“Todomatsu Girls” from “The Melancholy of Osomatsu”: Unnamed (unless in script), seen on an outing with him that Osomatsu intrudes upon. That’s all the relevance they have, though they’re seen in the fanmade Nekomatsu app.

“Todomatsu Girls” from “Iyami’s Counterattack” (same as above??): There’s debate in Eastern side of fandom as well as here if the girls we see in the Totty Wagon are the same ones from before and just miscolored, or if they recycled the basic designs for two other ‘new’ backgrounders.

Considering the callbacks to the show, it could be either; girls that look coincidentally similar vs. animation/color error. See below for a more outright example.

Sacchi and Aida, from “The Melancholy of Osomatsu” and “Todomatsu and the Five Demons”: Two pretty girls on a bridge that Karamatsu fantasizes as being in love with him, but they think him pathetic.

Episodes later, we see they work at Sutabaa and Todomatsu has attempted to get close to them, only for his brothers to humiliate him at work over his university student lie and then put him through a humiliation game at the mixer, which makes him lose all status with these girls. Well, that’s what happens when you try to hide stuff and lie around other Matsunos. Some wonder why they didn’t recognize Karamatsu at Sutabaa…?

Sacchi’s later seen as one of the random girls on Mr. Flag’s cruise ship, with Nyaa-chan. They don’t play any further active part besides a cameo in Iyami Kart.

Girls at mixer,The Star of Hope, Todomatsu”: Two of them look kind of like Sacchi and Aida, but if you look closer, they seem different. and the credits only call them “Girls” so, it’s a different pair.

There’s our other contact of Todomatsu’s well, but since he couldn’t bring himself to bring a brother for him to outshine, the girls all flock to Atsushi and the other guy there.

Also check out this animation error with not-Aida. Seems like the animators were confused too, about what clothing she should wear:

There’s also the girl from “Virgin Hero” that Totty goes to eat with. I don’t have the screencap of her right now, but she also represents this unattainable thing.

Had the episode segment aired as it originally was intended to (as part of an episode 5), it would have foreshadowed the caste system, Todomatsu’s betrayal of his brothers, and Ichimatsu’s jealousy issues at seeing couples. It’s a shame the controversy and banning of episode 1 happened to shake up cour 1 like that, but what can ya do.
