Recently, I saw a post shit-talking female Ireland ocs/female British Isles ocs.
So, since they gave their two cents, time for me to give mine.
Nations have a population. Some members of that population are female- I know big fucking shock right there. You point out that you hear the words Scotsman, Irishman, and Englishman often? Scotswoman , Irishwoman, and Englishwoman are also words. And you, so high and up there, forgot the Welsh. Is Welsh too complicated of a word for you? Oh no, better not show you Welshman or Welshwoman, you might get confused.
Another point you made was about feminism and how it is “not very high.” GUESS FUCKING WHAT? Many nations have this problem. Want to know something else? History involves women. Listen, I know you’re still reeling from the new words you learned in my past paragraph, but shockingly, women did shit in history. And since your biggest beef seems to be with a female Ireland, here’s some famous Irish women:
- Grace O’Malley (personal favorite of mine)
And these are only a few from lists of many. Amazing what a Google search can give you, isn’t it?
And your original question was about people who ship Ireland with England, yes? While I personally don’t like the ship, you have flaws in your argument against it. ALL IRISH PEOPLE DO NOT HATE ALL ENGLISH PEOPLE.
Yes, shitty things happened in the past. But do you really think a personification of so many people with so many different opinions can hold a grudge that forms hatred? Just look at your source material for these personifications. Each nation has had something shitty happen to them in the past. The personification doesn’t automatically go “UGH EW YOU FUCK OUT OF MY LIFE OR I’LL KILL YOU.” There are hard feelings and there are hurt feelings, but most of the time, these personifications keep the past in the fucking past.
Now in your last point, you pointed out for people to stop calling England the UK. A very valid point, and thank you for remembering the Scottish and the Welsh. Big problem though. You completely forgot Northern Ireland. Don’t advocate for people to stop forgetting things when you yourself forgot a whole country.
But… Then again, you probably just went “Eh, it’s on the same little Isle as Ireland. Let’s lump them.” Or, do you just not know your Irish history enough to know Northern Ireland exists?
Now, I could go on about how it’s not your job to judge ocs and critique artwork, but I’m sure you hear that often. Maybe it’s time you grow up and shut up when in actuality you know absolutely nothing.
Can i just personally thank you for this, because it is just amazing
